Still here…still writing…

It’s been a busy spring! Between gardening, callings, kids, and life, writing/arranging can get crowded out.

I have been writing/arranging, sporadically, but I am making progress.  I finished a couple of Easter Hymns for the organ, unfortunately, I did not get them done until after Easter.  :/

cropped-flower-heart-love-music-notes-pretty-favim-com-63923.jpgStake Conference has had me hopping.  I have written two choir pieces this past month.
“Come, O King of Kings, SATB and I just finished a TB version of “Sweet Is the Work” for the priesthood session next week.

You know, there’s a reason that a men’s version of “Sweet Is the Work” is scant – that was a kick butt difficult assignment, especially since I was given a single day to complete it.  It would have been a quick, and simple job, but the assignment stipulated that I use all six verses .  Did you know that there are six verses?  I do now!

Trying to be creatively simple with just two parts, six verses and being mindful that the men will probably only have one or two practices, tops, before next Saturday night, was a stretch of my mental and spiritual brain matter.  My kids had to fend for themselves – poor teenagers ~ Yep, we had boxed pizza, popcorn and smorkies for dinner last night ~ And friends over for movie night, that was fun!

Blessedly I managed to get the assignment finished and submitted before the midnight Sabbath hour, and now I can get back to household duties, arranging more sacrament music, preparing for YW camp, gearing up for orchestra auditions, and compiling arrangements for our summer choir music.

I love music and I love to serve through music, whether it’s singing, listening, leading, or writing and I am grateful that the Lord blesses me with many opportunities to serve.  🙂

When I get a chance, after next weekend’s Stake Conference I will upload the two choir pieces, the Easter music, and any other hymns I finish arranging.

I hope you had a blessed Easter.

Elizabeth 🙂
