Hello Friends and Pedal Lovers,
I have some exciting news!!! Beginning TODAY, and as time permits, I will be posting organ music with a new way to play it.
It is called Organ Cheatz ~ Pedal Cheatz
I developed this for myself, because I have mild vertigo and looking at three lines of music can sometimes be overwhelming.
When I began playing the organ, I had difficulty identifying the pedal notes, but I noticed that there were guitar chords above the LDS childrens songs and the simplified hymns.
I began playing around with these guitar chords, incorporating them as my pedal cheatz.
I liked the guitar chord notations because it was easier to equate a letter with a pedal and visualize the pedal I would be playing next.
Unfortunately, Not every chord marking worked with the music, so I had to figure out what portion of the chord would work well with the hymn.
Sometimes I had to leave the chord entirely and choose a different pedal note.
I also had to figure out a way to understand which octave I was playing my pedals in.
To mark my pedal octaves, I settled on:
- an arrow up for above middle c,
- no arrow for within middle c to the first lower c and
- a down arrow for pedal notes below the first lower c.
At first it may seem a bit foreign, but if you are a visual learner like I am you might find this version easier to play.
so far I only have two….but I assure you, there will be more to come:
Hymn #26 ~ Joseph_Smith’s_First_Prayer-organ cheatz
Hymn # 58 ~ Come Ye Children of the Lord-pedal-cheatz
Please let me know what you think in the comments below, so I can make improvements as I go.
Thank you,
Lizziebear. 🙂
